Malcolm X is one of the most iconic and misunderstood persons in history, and the best way to understand a person is to “walk in their footsteps.”On this unique tour, I intend to trace the footsteps of Malcolm X on the streets of Harlem, as told by his words in “The Autobiography of Malcolm X."In this unique soulful walking experience, I will use my expertise as a tour guide and take you from Central Harlem to the “Sugar Hill” district and finally to Washington Heights, in upper Manhattan. Our journey began where Malcolm X attended his first meeting with the Nation of Islam at Temple 7. We will then walk to locations where he: preached his memorable sermons; met with several global and local leaders in the Black community; lived, studied, and relaxed; formed his organizations; stood up to law enforcement; gave press conferences, etc.
Our trek also includes the places he frequented in the 1940s before becoming a minister—for example, the nightclubs; his employment; and, unfortunately, where he was assassinated. In between sites, we cover a range of topics. For example: Who killed Malcolm X; What were his philosophies; Civil and global rights; His family; His trip to Mecca; His name change; and many other interesting facts about "El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz" (Malcolm X). This extensive walking tour will require taking a few quick subway rides.
